We work consistently towards our vision of “a connected community encouraging wellness in people and place.” To achieve this, we deliver targeted services aimed at children, youth, families, and seniors. We also work closely with the community to support other initiatives that contribute to our shared goals. We talk daily with community members and develop new services in response to need.
Over the past 18 months, cuts in government contracts have had a significant impact on the viability of our organisation. At the same time compliance costs such as audit fees and insurance have increased, and the cost-of-living crisis has seen added demand on services, particularly budgeting, foodbank and mental health support.
We are appealing to those of you who live, work or have a vested interest in the health and wellbeing of Te Kauwhata and Districts to partner us over the next three years. Together we can ensure our core services are protected and our community is a place where individuals and families can live good lives.
Below we have provided information on the three ways you might invest in our organisation;

Donate Funds
We are a registered charity CC26227, so all donations are tax deductible. Donations can be made at any time to our bank account.
The Te Kauwhata & Districts Information & Support Centre Incorporated - 03-1574-0007572-00.
Please contact us to let us know when you have made a donation so we can issue a receipt and thank you for your contribution – Ph 078264303 / [email protected].
If you are happy for us to celebrate your generosity publicly, we will add you to our donor’s list, invite you to relevant events and send you a quarterly update so you can read about the impact your contribution has made. We’d also love to thank you on relevant collateral and communications. This may include social media, signage, donor news and our annual report. If you prefer to remain anonymous we will respect your privacy.
You may wish to donate as a lump sum or set up a small regular payment. Every cent helps.
We will be producing signage for the fence of the Community House and the Community Garden to acknowledge sponsorships and donations of $1000 per annum for three years or greater. These signs will be in place from August 2025 to August 2028 so agreements will need to be in place by the end of June.
What impact will my donation have?
When you donate locally, you can be confident that your money will make a difference to people living in your community. They may be a neighbour, a woman you know from the gym, the family of someone your child attends school with, or the man you see at the dog park. Much of our work is confidential, but these are the kinds of things your money will be used for:

We would like to tailor a sponsorship package specific to your business/organisation. We are particularly interested in speaking with organisations who would consider entering into a multi-year partnership. Bequests are a wonderful option for those who would like to leave us a gift in their will. If you let us know of your intended bequest we will gratefully include you in our donor group, inviting you to relevant functions and sending you our quarterly donor news.
To make a bequest you will need to consult your lawyer to add the required clauses into your will. You may also wish to let your family and loved ones know of your intention so they are clear about your intentions.
These are some examples of the kind of wording you might use but please ensure you seek legal advice to enact your wishes.

Volunteer
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation. There are many different volunteer roles that might suit you including:
Please note that all our volunteers are required to consent to a police vetting process.
- Volunteer Drivers - we need people with full, clean drivers licenses available during the week day to assist with medical transport to Hamilton and Thames. Our drivers use our vehicles and are fully trained and supported in their work.
- Luncheon Club volunteers - we need people who enjoy food preparation and hospitality to assist in the preparation and services of our monthly Luncheon Club for Seniors at the Bowling Club. This is a lovely social opportunity to work in a team and to build relationships with our senior guests.
- Community Gardeners - we welcome assistance with planting, weeding, harvesting and maintenance at the community garden. We meet Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Fantastic if you have previous gardening experience but you will be working with our experienced team leaders and they are happy to support new gardeners in their roles.
- Event volunteers - we often need assistance with things such as traffic management, parking, supervision, catering and more at our community events.
- General Hand - there are many jobs around our properties that volunteers could assist with such as water blasting, sweeping, sorting.
Please note that all our volunteers are required to consent to a police vetting process.
Thank you for the continued support of everyone who contributes to our mahi
