Our History
The Te Kauwhata Community House began life as The Te Kauwhata and Districts Information and Support Centre (D.I.S.C). It was the vision of locals Jean Lawton and Hazel Boldero who rallied the support of many to open the doors in 1996. D.I.S.C originally operated out of the District Library but relocated to our current home at 1a Waerenga Road in 2006. In 2017 at our 21st birthday celebrations the organisation was rebranded as Te Kauwhata Community House. Today the organisation has grown to work across the Community House building, Toi Ako Artspace and a variety of spaces across the community. We are passionate about what we do and the people we serve.
